The Isle of Mull has a wealth of history and scenic views to offer visitors. Walking holidays can be most enjoyable with many and varied walks to satisfy the enthusiast.  The Balamory series was filmed in Tobermory so there is plenty to occupy the small children whilst the adults can take one of the many wildlife tours on both land and sea. Regular tours are conducted to Iona, Staffa and the Treshnish isles. Dervaig is one of the prettiest areas on Mull, it has numerous white sandy beaches which are easily accessible.   Click on the link below for holiday accommodation in Dervaig.

Mull is approximately sixty miles long by twenty five miles wide and has what could be considered a figure of eight as its basic roadway structure. The north west corner of the Island is considered by some as being the most prettiest with its soft gently hills and white sandy beaches. There are many walks and standing stones to be found in this corner of the island and it has many now disused crofts and groups of croft houses. From the hill above Torloisk you can see wonderful views towards Ulva and Northern Ireland which, I believe you can see the outline on a clear day. The peace and tranquility that is abundant on Mull is a joy to everyone and you only have to walk a short distance from the roadside to be completely engrossed in the natural and scenic beauty of this Isle

Travelling to Mull by Road

The shortest route for those coming by car from the south is either by the M6/A74/M8/A82 to Crianlarich and Oban, or via Stirling and Callander to Crianlarich if travelling from the east coast. Whether you reach Oban by road or rail, the next stage is to take the car ferry to Craignure.

Alternatively, coming by way of Glencoe, Ballachulish Bridge and Corran Ferry, you can use the Lochaline - Fishnish car ferry: since this cannot be booked, at busy times you should not travel too late in the day. Timetables and other information can be obtained from Caledonian MacBrayne (Oban), Telephone 01631 562285. If you plan to take your car onto the Oban - Craignure ferry you should book both ways during the summer.

Which ever route you take towards Scotland's beautiful west coast you will pass through some of the most spectacular scenery in Britain. In order to give us time to prepare for new visitors, we normally ask that departures should not be later than 10am and arrival at the property not earlier than 4pm Saturday .

If you are travelling from Oban to Craignure then you should turn right off the ferry linkspan and head towards Salen and Tobermory. If you are travelling on the Lochaline to Fishnish ferry you should travel up the ferry road to the T junction and then make a right turn towards Salen and Tobermory.

Having turned right you will eventually arrive at a village named Salen travel straight through the village towards Tobermory and in about half a mile you will be travelling alongside the river inlet with the water on your right. After about 500 mtrs the road goes sharp right over a bridge towards Tobermory and there is another road that goes straight on.

You should follow the road that goes straight on at the bridge, signposted for Dervaig. This road is eleven miles long and as you come to the far end of it you will see a T junction.  Turn right for Dervaig village or left for Calgary
